THE STORM IS COMING
While
sitting on the porch one evening watching the grass grow, Bub
looked at the sky remarking how gray it was. A few seconds later
he jumped up yelling “Hot damn Earl I think we have a twister
coming! You think we should hit the bar ditch?”
“You’re right Bub, there is a
storm coming, one such as we have never seen before. The problem
is, if we’re not already prepared it could be too late to take
cover.” With that Bub grabbed his 6
pack of beer, crammed the can of snuff in his pocket and cleared
a four foot fence like it wasn’t there. When the storm was over,
I might not have found him if it wasn't for his plumbers crack
sticking out of the mud.
THE STORM In 2008 I watched the black
clouds rolling in knowing they could produce devastation as After that we had a man come
into the picture promising “Change we can believe in” and
transparency. After he was elected, and before he was sworn in
Mr. Obama had his cronies already putting a package together
that would drag the American tax payer into the largest amount
of spending they had ever seen. Mr. Obama promised us no more
pork, yet the fat rolled off the pig in billions of dollars. He
promised us no more lobbyists. This promise he may be keeping
because many of them joined his team. If one of his team forgets
to pay taxes it is called a hiccup, if we forget to pay we can
go to prison. The American people were promised change within
100 days, I hope we can digest what we are being fed, Texans
have a name for it! Some of you may ask what this
coming devastation is: it is the fall of our economic wealth.
Our economic structure is changing daily. Pick up a paper or turn on
your television. Hard working people are living in tents,
families can’t put food on their tables, and people are loosing
jobs at the highest rates in 27 years. Small businesses make up
70% of our country, yet they are failing every day. During the industrial age a
workers home was considered his largest asset. Today our homes,
in many areas, are worth much less than we bought them for. The American dream was to work
until you were 65, then collect Social Security and Medicare so
you could live out your remaining years in comfort. This was
good back then, but will not work today.
I have never believed in the
myth of Social Security or Medicare for our retirement, the
reason being the future will not be able to afford it. In the
year 2008, I was 62, by the year 2012 I will be 66, old enough
to draw full Social Security. The magic words we are looking at
which will create this storm is the baby boomer generation. This
generation began in 1946, in 2012 the baby boomers will begin to
draw Social Security starting the storm. By the year 2016 the
generation will hit 70 years of age, this will be the heaviest
impact of the storm. What is the big deal with these people
reaching retirement age? Let us look into the future for the
answers. |
