What Tea Parties Are About

Tea Parties are rapidly growing across our Country. There is much confusion as to what we are all about. Some people on the Left side have called us Tea Baggers, astro turf, un-Patriotic, and even terrorists. As an active participant in many Tea Parties, let me tell you what they are all about.

I see as much enthusiasm at the Dems and Repubs Conventions, elections, and Town Hall Meetings. So why chastise us for congregating together to express our opinions? There is a lot of discussion and information being exchanged. Lawmakers and speakers inform us about what is going on in our government. Patriotic entertainment is at an all time high. All the Tea Parties I have attended have begun with a prayer for our Country. Our Country's National Anthem is sung along with many other patriotic songs. All this combined, makes the event very inspiring and enthusiasm is flowing. The Patriotism among the people is unbelievable. I don't carry a tune so do not usually sing in public, but I feel so inspired that I belt out all the off notes!

Many people in this Country do not know or understand what is happening to this Country. The Tea Parties and other grass roots organizations are trying to reach out to these people in a fun and very Patriotic way. There is no partisanship at these gatherings. I have run across a very Bipartisan group of people; Independents, Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, Catholics, Protestants, Gays, Whites, Hispanics, Orientals, Jews, Blacks (as some prefer not to be called African Americans because they are Americans), Native Americans, Indians, and probably even some Muslims. These people all gather to share their Patriotism, love for this Country and one another. They are able to express their concerns and learn from other people.

Many of these people have written to members of Congress, the President, and State Lawmakers most people say they never hear any response. If they do receive a response, they do not understand what they are saying or the reply is a vague generic response. We want to know and understand what is happening in this country.

We are not uniting to start any trouble, we want someone in DC to listen to what we want. I have been at the Parties when demonstrators who don't believe in what we stand for have been there with their signs promoting Health Care and their views. Patriots had bigger signs and flags that they were able to cover the signs. Most of them are very peaceful, when asked what they liked about Health Care, they would not answer. I wonder if they really understand what is in the Health Care Bill. It would have been interesting to have had a debate.

This is our Country and we have the right to know. Many of the local grass roots have monthly meetings where they discuss the Politics of this Country. We have met many people at these events and keep in touch with them through the internet, sharing ours and others views on various subjects.

January 19, 2010, history was made. The citizens of Mass. elected an independent to become the first Republican Senator in over 40 years. Senator Scott Brown an Independent ran on the Republican ticket and took the Democratic state by a landslide! NOW THAT IS CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN. Despite all the Dems who have said that Tea Parties do not do a thing, the people of Mass. listened to us. They pulled together and informed the people what is really going on. Our voices are being heard. We are making a difference.
